Traffic Stop in Shenandoah Leads to Drug and Firearm Seizure; Two Men Arrested
SHENANDOAH, TX -- On April 18, 2025, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office South Patrol Division conducted a traffic stop on a Dodge Journey. During the roadside investigation, Deputies detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
Assistance was requested from the Shenandoah Police Department K-9 Division. Following a free-air sniff around the vehicle, the K-9 alerted to narcotics. A probable cause search was conducted, resulting in the discovery of the following items:
6.4 grams of suspected Oxycodone (counterfeit blue M30 pills, possibly laced with Fentanyl)
1 gram Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) vape pen
0.277 ounces of marijuana
Glock 19x 9mm handgun
The driver was identified as Marco Castillo, 35-years-old, and the passenger as Luis Castillo, 32-years-old. Both individuals were taken into custody. Marco Castillo was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (First-Degree Felony) and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. Luis Castillo was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (State Jail Felony) and Possession of Marijuana.
The investigation was turned over to the Texas Department of Public Safety Special Agents for further action.
