Sterling Ridge Orthopaedics announces ‘Sterling Recovery,’ a community podcast for active lifestyles
THE WOODLANDS, TX – As part of its ongoing 20th anniversary celebrations, Sterling Ridge Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, led by founder Dr. William Hayes, has announced the imminent premiere of a new podcast called ‘Sterling Recovery.’
Each episode will feature Hayes, one of his ten on-site surgeons, or other experts in an engaging, conversational, and informative format on topics such as aging and staying active, how to survive an IRONMAN competition, playing pickleball without peril, when joints should and shouldn’t be replaced, and non-operative orthopedic treatments. Hayes’ office compatriot, Dr. Keith Johnson, has himself completed a handful of IRONMANs and talks all about it in one of the first episodes that will air.
Hayes opted to start the podcast as a way to easily reach his over-100,000 patients that he has amassed over the years, plus up to millions more people of all ages seeking a more active and more healthy lifestyle that won’t destroy their bone structures.
“I’ve always dreamed of being a community doctor,” said Hayes. Originally practicing at another clinic, he moved to The Woodlands in 1997. Bicycle riding with his family through the local neighborhoods one day, he noticed what he felt would be the perfect property site for a new facility. When his then-coworkers demurred at the thought of expanding or moving into the Township, Hayes parted ways with them and founded his own practice to move onto the site.
Today, Sterling Ridge contains ten doctors and 135 employees, including physician assistants, therapists, and chiropractor, in three locations. And though Hayes himself is 61 years old, he shows no signs of slowing down in any of his lives – work, home, or play.
“As I get older, I love the middle-aged athlete,” he said. “Every day, I have pickleball players – some playing against my wife – come in with pulled muscles and other minor injuries and maladies. Orthopedic care in 2025 relies heavily on prevention strategies; while sometimes surgeries and joint and bone replacements are necessary, there are plenty of non-operative methods we can try. My mission is, whatever cards you’re handed, I’ll get you moving any way I can.”
Beyond a strong family man and community presence, Hayes is a man of conviction. “I live by Galatians 6:9 – do the right thing. Every encounter is vital. I want to use the podcast to communicate with the community about life-altering decisions in a non-threatening way. I want to assure people above the age of 50 that there’s no need to sit on rockers and resign themselves to eating bon bons. It’s an opportunity for people scared at the prospect of facing orthopedic surgery to spend 30 minutes with me and be put at ease. And I also get to use the opportunity to boast about the sheer number of success stories we’ve enjoyed at Sterling Ridge.”
