National Transfer Week brings university partners to Lone Star College System

HOUSTON, TX -- Thousands of students transfer from Lone Star College System to four-year universities every year—often to partner institutions that help make that transition seamless.
Campuses throughout LSCS are celebrating National Transfer Week with events from Oct. 20-24. Students can connect with university representatives to learn more about admissions criteria, degree options, the application process, scholarship opportunities, life at four-year institutions and transfer assistance opportunities.
“At Lone Star College System, we recognize that each student’s journey is unique. Our campus transfer advising teams work with students to develop course transfer plans that meet their specific needs, saving time and money along the way,” said Michel Rodriguez-Zuch, Ph.D., LSCS associate vice chancellor, Academic Initiatives and Partnerships. “Regardless of where they came from or where they’re going, we want to help students succeed academically and overcome challenges they may face in the process.”
The National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students celebrates National Transfer Week annually during the third full week of October to recognize community college students working toward their transfer goals, alumni who have successfully shifted to four-year schools, and the faculty and staff who help facilitate those moves.
LSCS partners with public and private institutions across Texas and beyond to expand opportunities and streamline the transfer process. Transfer advising is available for students who need assistance planning their next steps. Transfer degree plans provide students with a guide for course selection during their first two years at LSCS and their final two years at a partner university.
The top 10 transfer universities for LSCS first-time transfer students in 2024-2025 were:

Other transfer-related programs include Houston Guided Pathways to Success (Houston GPS), a partnership that creates transfer degree plans between 14 two- and four-year institutions in the Gulf Coast region. Additionally, LSC-University Center offers students the chance to earn bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees close to home through a select group of university partners.
