THE WOODLANDS, TX — In its 14th year, the annual Job Fair hosted by the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce has a successful track record of connecting local talent with area employers. This year’s event, scheduled for Tuesday, January 27, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Lone Star Convention & Expo Center in Conroe, should be no different.

Last year, despite a major storm, more than 600 job seekers attended the one-day Job Fair. Many of those also took advantage of pre-fair workshops, which will be held again this year, at the Chamber office, on January 22 (9 a.m.-12 p.m.) and January 26 (1-4 p.m.). Each workshop will cover resume writing, interviewing skills, LinkedIn, and how to stand out from the competition.

In addition to the job seekers, more than 40 local employers are expected to be present at the Job Fair. Some of these include Better Bookkeepers, Prinsco, Waukesha, The Color Bar, My Family Vet – Montgomery, and San Jacinto River Authority.

“One of the first persons I interviewed at this event last year is still employed with us today,” said Austin Knight with Aire Serv of The Woodlands and Conroe. “We had many applicants come by, so many that we had to have someone from our office bring more applications. It was a great turnout, and we were happy to be a part of the program.”

Rave Financial Credit Union will sponsor the “Rave Room,” a dedicated space designed to help job seekers reset and recharge – pause, catch their breath, check their appearance, and receive uplifting words of affirmation before stepping in to meet potential new employers.

“For more than 90 years, the Chamber’s mission has been to connect local businesses, and this event gives area employers an incredible pool of talent from which to choose,” said Scott Harper, President of the Chamber.

Both the Job Fair and the workshops are free for job seekers, though pre-registration is required for the workshops by visiting conroe.org/jobfair. Employers seeking talent can register for a booth for just $200 (Chamber members) or $225 (non-members). Electricity is available for an additional $50. Register for a booth at conroe.org/jobfair.
