THE WOODLANDS, TX -- At approximately 12:42 a.m. on New Year’s Day, The Woodlands Fire Department (TWFD) was dispatched to a reported house fire on Eagle Rock Circle in The Village of Indian Springs.

Truck 108 was the first unit to arrive on scene and reported an active fire in a detached garage that had extended to nearby wooden fencing and was threatening an adjacent residence. Firefighters initiated a rapid attack and were able to achieve a quick knockdown of the fire, successfully limiting damage to the detached garage and fencing and preventing the fire from spreading to the nearby home.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office; however, the fire is believed to have likely been started by fireworks.

The Woodlands Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

TWFD reminds residents to use caution with fireworks and to celebrate safely, especially in residential areas.
