Montgomery County CRU Busts Organized Retail Theft Ring Near Sawdust Road in The Woodlands
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- On January 22, 2026, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) was conducting proactive patrols and surveillance of convenience stores near Sawdust Road and Grogan’s Mill Road in The Woodlands.
During the operation, CRU Deputies observed three males enter a 24-hour retail location and maintained surveillance as the individuals moved throughout the store. Upon the suspects' departure, Deputies conducted a traffic stop nearby.
The three suspects were identified as 33-year-old Khahli Wheeler, 23-year-old Ladavion Osby, and 19-year-old Jayden Haynes, all from Houston, TX.
The subsequent investigation revealed that the suspects acted in coordination to distract the store clerk, allowing one individual to enter the storeroom and steal hundreds of dollars of cigarettes. The stolen merchandise was successfully recovered and returned to the retailer.
Wheeler, who is currently on parole for Aggravated Assault, was charged with Organized Retail Theft and Possession of Marijuana. Osby was charged with Organized Retail Theft and also had two outstanding warrants for probation violation on charges of Smuggling from Uvalde, TX. Haynes was charged with Organized Retail Theft, Failed to Identify as a Fugitive, and also had multiple warrants including probation violation for Robbery out of Harris County, a warrant for Organized Retail Theft out of Galveston County, and two warrants for Felony Theft out of Louisiana.
