ROAD TRIP: Celebrate Texas Independence Day at Washington-on-the-Brazos

THE WOODLANDS, TX – After two years of renovations to the historic site, the Texas Historical Commission has announced that its annual Texas Independence Day Celebration has returned. The 190th anniversary will take place at Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site at 23400 Park Road 12, in Washington, TX. The hours of the event are from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

With only about an hour’s driving time from The Woodlands area, this event that is free to the public allows attendees to experience everything they love about the annual Texas Independence Day Celebration, along with all the new renovations. Attendees can start with the opening ceremony and parade at 10:30 a.m., followed by great performances at the Amphitheater and Barrington Living History Farm throughout the day. They can enjoy demonstrations, activities, and scenes from the Convention of 1836 at the new Washington Townsite Experience.

Additionally, you can tour the Star of the Republic Museum’s new amazing exhibits, including a special display of the Ark of the Covenant of the Texas Declaration of Independence, a box made from the original Independence Hall., and then shop and eat at some of the on-site vendors and food trucks.
