Next level of The Woodlands Township Trolley Naming Contest has begun – add your voice today!

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The ongoing contest to name the brand-new trolleys entering service along Woodlands routes is nearing its end as the category round has been completed. Contest organizers have received numerous creative name suggestions from community members, and now they place it back into your hands to narrow the possibilities down even more.

A full list of categories has been chosen, along with individual name options, and voting is now open to everyone – regardless of residency – from now through Monday, February 23. Organizers have pointed out that, while the public input will be considered as part of the process, the final authority will remain with Township staff.

The categories and names include:

• Rhyming Names (plus George) – Dolly, Jolly, Molly, Holly, Lolly and George
• Alliterative Tree Names – Redbud Rambler, Dogwood Dodger, Sweetgum Shuttle, Willow Wanderer, Bluebonnet Breeze and Juniper Journey
• Woodlands Landmarks – Midgard Serpent, The Dreamer, The Wayfinder, Mitchell Preserve, Bear Branch and Panther Creek
• Pun Names – Spruce Springsteen, Willow Nelson, The Cone Ranger, Trolley Parton, The Trollinator and Clint Blackgum
• Tree Pun Names – Pine-eolpe, Oak-livia, Elm-ily, Willow-iam, Fir-nando and Holly-ver

The Town Center Trolleys provide transit service along an approximate 4.5-mile route connecting The Woodlands Mall, Market Street, Town Center, The Woodlands Waterway, and Hughes Landing restaurants, hotels, businesses and residences. Employees, residents and visitors can park once and hop aboard the free trolley to popular retail, entertainment, and office locations. The trolleys are partially funded through Federal Transit Administration (FTA) formula grants.
