LSC-Montgomery Accounting Club Offers Free Tax Preparation Through AARP

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Lone Star College-Montgomery Accounting Club, in partnership with AARP Tax-Aide, is providing free federal income tax return preparation for community residents, helping individuals and families navigate the often complex tax season with ease.

The service is offered at the LSC-Montgomery campus in The Woodlands, 3200 College Park Drive, inside the Library in Building F. The program is designed to serve the community’s needs by offering high-quality, professional assistance at no cost.

This service is supervised by faculty members from the accounting and business departments. Student volunteers begin training in November, complete IRS certification requirements, and participate in specialized AARP Tax-Aide instruction. Each completed return is reviewed by faculty supervisors to ensure accuracy and compliance with IRS guidelines. The initiative benefits both students and the community by providing practical, real-world experience for students while offering reliable, no-cost tax preparation services to local residents. The program operates from February 5 through April 11, with assistance available on Thursdays from 1 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The initiative has become a mutually beneficial effort: students gain real‑world skills and community service experience, while taxpayers receive reliable, professional‑level help without the usual fees.

“Volunteering at the Tax Site is an experience I’ll treasure forever. I could see firsthand the positive impact we have on those we help. I appreciate the faculty and team at LSC who take their time to organize this,” said Cristian Vieyra, AARP Tax-Aide Volunteer and LSC-Montgomery Student.
To ensure a smooth and efficient process, taxpayers are encouraged to bring all relevant documentation, including W-2s, 1099s, and any other supporting materials.
