Lone Star College-University Park presents spring production of “Three Sisters”
HOUSTON, TX -- Lone Star College-University Park invites community members to experience the timeless drama of Anton Chekhov’s “Three Sisters.” The production will run Mar. 4-8 at the Visual and Performing Arts Main Stage Theater on campus, 930 University Park Campus Dr., Houston, TX 77070.
“Bringing the work of such an important and acclaimed author to LSC-University Park is part of the mission of educational theatre,” said Will Grayson, chair of performing arts. “Not only do we want to be on the cutting edge of stories and topics, but we also want to preserve the classics that have impacted the arts globally.”
Written at the turn of the 20th century, “Three Sisters” follows Olga, Masha and Irina as they navigate unfulfilled dreams, bleak realities and the search for meaning. As the sisters grapple with these themes, audiences will be drawn into the quiet tensions of everyday life.
The production carries special significance for the drama department. “Three Sisters” was originally slated to be directed by faculty member Professor Mary Schreier-Sepeda, whose recent passing deeply affected the community and reshaped the department’s season. In honor of her vision and commitment, Grayson stepped in to lead the production.
Featuring LSC-University Park students and community members, the production offers audiences an intimate and emotionally rich theatrical experience. Under Grayson’s direction, the ensemble brings nuance and immediacy to a classic that continues to resonate with modern audiences. All current students can experience live shows and support the arts on campus for just $1.
