Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Wife in Connection to 2025 Murder
NEW CANEY, TX -- Following a comprehensive nine-month investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Major Crimes Unit, investigators have arrested 31-year-old Breyanai Moore in connection with the murder of her husband, 33-year-old Lonnie Moore.
On June 15, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m., deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 23900 block of Northcrest Trail in New Caney. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the body of Lonnie Moore inside a white vehicle parked on the side of the roadway with the engine still running. The victim appeared to have sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
While the scene initially appeared to suggest a suicide, Detectives with the MCSO Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Investigators conducted a thorough scene analysis. As the investigation progressed, evidence was uncovered that contradicted the initial assessment of a self-inflicted wound.
Over the course of the subsequent nine months, detectives worked diligently to pursue leads and gather evidence, which eventually led to the identification of Breyanai Moore as the suspect.
On March 4, 2026, Major Crimes Detectives, assisted by the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Crime Reduction Unit, executed an arrest warrant for Breyanai Moore. She was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Montgomery County Jail. She is currently charged with Murder and is being held with no bond.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office wishes to thank the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Crime Reduction Unit for their collaboration and assistance in bringing this investigation to a successful resolution.
