SPRING, TX -- North Houston business and lifestyle destination City Place is launching a partnership with ROCO, the internationally recognized 40-piece professional chamber orchestra known for its innovative programming, and fitness-navigation app RunGo, to turn a standard stroll or sprint into a dynamic cultural moment.

The immersive audio experience syncs curated chamber music recorded by Houston-based ROCO to the picturesque physical geography of waterfront City Place Park, located in the mixed-use urban core of the 2,000-acre development. It’s a magical introduction to an extensive trail system that serves as a gateway to the Spring Creek Greenway, the longest, connected, urban forested corridor in the United States.

Visitors can access the 1.3-mile route by scanning a QR code available at the adjacent Houston City Place Marriott, or by searching within the RunGo app’s City Place page, which provides a range of community trail options, albeit without the same musical accompaniment for now. The circular route begins and ends just steps from the Marriott’s lobby on programmed City Plaza.

Whether enjoyed as a meditative walk between meetings or a brisk jog immersed in nature, it adapts to each user’s pace and purpose.

Leveraging RunGo’s turn-by-turn voice navigation and ROCO’s evocative music, the initiative leads users with the support of "audio ducking" technology that intelligently lowers the sound to provide directions before swelling back into site-specific classical movements curated to match the surrounding flora.

“Beginning with meditative tunes and soulful pieces, you pick up the pace with upbeat and driving music to engage in your own journey of discovery,” said Alecia Lawyer, ROCO Founder, Artistic Director, and oboist. "Taking our music out of the concert hall and onto the trails of City Place allows the listener to become part of the performance.”

“This collaboration with RunGo and City Place turns City Place into the stage for Houston’s acclaimed chamber orchestra,” according to Noah Bloom, RunGo’s co-founder and head of partnerships. “It’s a fun, immersive way to enjoy ROCO content outdoors and on the move. RunGo is proud to help power this innovative activation, connecting music and emotion to real world spaces.”

The partnership also cements City Place’s standing as a living laboratory of innovation that fuses culture with high tech in the heart of nature – a reputation that’s growing in part due to a forward-thinking arts initiative.

The RunGo/ROCO trail will debut during a community-wide public celebration on Saturday, May 9, transforming the park into an illuminated gathering space that blends performance, recreation, and social connection. The evening begins at 5 p.m. with a lively outdoor market and interactive musical performances by School of Rock Spring, followed at 8:30 p.m. by a signature nighttime candle walk symbolically rededicating the trail. While supplies last, guests will receive color-changing LED candles to carry along the route, accompanied by pop-up bars serving complimentary refreshments, including curated zero-proof cocktails.

For a real dose of urban adventure, the RunGo platform recently added a 17-mile route through the Greenway toward Interstate 59, positioning City Place as a central access point to one of the region’s most expansive outdoor recreation assets.
