Kitchen Fire Quickly Contained at Millennium Six Pines Apartment Complex

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- At approximately 8:45 p.m. Monday evening, The Woodlands Fire Department responded to a reported kitchen fire at Millennium Six Pines.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a smoldering fire inside an oven. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and conducted a thorough check to ensure it had not spread beyond the immediate area. Firefighters then ventilated the apartment unit and adjacent entry hallway to remove smoke and restore safe conditions.

The incident was determined to have been caused by the resident mistakenly using the oven’s broiler compartment as a storage drawer. Officials note this is a common source of household fires, as many electric ovens include a storage drawer beneath the oven cavity, while most gas-powered ovens utilize the bottom compartment as a broiler.

The Woodlands Fire Department reminds residents to familiarize themselves with the proper use and operation of household appliances to help prevent similar incidents.

No injuries were reported.
