Legally Blind Lake Conroe Photographer Christine Gorhum Finds Success Behind the Camera
CONROE, TX -- Christine Gorhum is a children's author who resides near Lake Conroe. As a nature photographer, she is legally blind, yet is still able to take photographs via the sounds and motions of wildlife. Now in her 60s, Christine's failing sight started when she was still in her 20s, but she did not let that stop her, and she has flourished in the craft. She works on the wooded property that she shares with her husband Robert, and captures not only birds, which are her speciality, but flowers, portraits of people, and even on outings such as to an Astros game. Christine has even sold her prints to clients, and even the Astros. Her photography takes patience, and requires her keen sense of hearing before she starts taking photos. To view her photos, she uses a large computer monitor to be able to see the product of her labors up close.
Several years ago, Christine published a children's book "The Adventures of Bunny and Boy," with illustrations by her daughter-in-law. The book is about her oldest grandson who has fun episodes on their property, and with the neighbor lady, Mrs. Duncan who makes cookies for him.
