MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- Last weekend, 82 dedicated law enforcement personnel from across Montgomery County joined forces for the Erika Serrato July 4th DWI Initiative. Despite our repeated warnings throughout the holiday weekend, deputies made 52 DWI arrests and 2 BWI arrests, in just a 50 hour time frame.

While our previous task forces have successfully achieved a goal of zero fatality crashes, this holiday weekend was marked by a tragic single-vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality, with alcohol identified as a contributing factor.

We cannot stress enough the absolute importance of making the responsible choice not to drink and drive. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office will remain persistent and aggressive in our efforts to remove intoxicated drivers from our roads and protect our community.

We want to thank all the agencies involved in this task force that assisted in removing intoxicated drivers from our streets. Additionally, we thank everyone who made the responsible choice not to drink and drive. Your decision helps keep our roads safer for your family, your neighbors, and everyone traveling through our community.
