THE WOODLANDS, TX — Montgomery County Judge Mark J. Keough has officially certified that Charles B. “Chuck” Meyer will appear on the November 3, 2026 General Election ballot as an Independent candidate for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3.
The certification, dated July 10, 2026, confirms that Meyer’s application — filed June 25, 2026 — was accepted after his nominating petition was verified to contain signatures in excess of the 500 required under Texas Election Code. Getting an independent candidate on the ballot in Texas is a significant undertaking: unlike party-affiliated candidates, independents receive no primary election placement and must gather a substantial number of verified voter signatures within a narrow filing window — and not just any signatures. Texas law restricts independent candidate petitions to voters who did not participate in a primary election in which a Justice of the Peace race appeared on the ballot, and signatures could only be collected starting the day after the primary. Meyer, with the help of friends, neighbors, and those who share the vision of an independent judiciary, met that challenge and cleared the bar with signatures to spare.
“We knocked on a lot of doors to make this happen,” Meyer said. “Every signature represented a neighbor who believes, as I do, that justice belongs to the people — not to political parties. I’m grateful to everyone who signed, and I look forward to earning their vote in November.”
Meyer, a longtime resident of The Woodlands and attorney with over three decades of legal and executive experience, is running on a platform of competence, transparency, and independence from partisan politics. He is the only licensed attorney in the JP3 race.
