Body Found Near I-45 in Conroe Believed to Be Missing Willis Man Steven Collier

CONROE, TX -- On August 6th, 2026, at approximately 1:16 pm, the Conroe Police Department was dispatched to the 12000 block of N. IH-45 in reference to a dead body located in the wooded area near the roadway. Patrol Officers arrived and located a body in a wooded area near a walking trail. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition.

The deceased is believed to be 65-year-old Steven Collier from Willis, TX, who was reported as a missing person to the Conroe Police Department on 08/03/2026 by Collier’s family members. The deceased was wearing clothing consistent with the clothing description Collier was last seen wearing on the date the missing person report was filed.

Conroe Police Detectives, along with Crime Scene Investigators, responded to the scene. Therewere no obvious signs of trauma or injuries to the deceased. The deceased was later transported to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for an autopsy and identification. At this time, the identity of the deceased can not be confirmed as Collier until the completion of the autopsy. This is an ongoing investigation and no further information can be released at this time
