MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX --- The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Crime Reduction Unit recently completed a targeted, multi-day proactive operation in South Montgomery County aimed at curbing retail theft and suspicious activity.

From August 4 through August 7, deputies worked alongside local retailers and their loss prevention specialists to monitor commercial areas, identify active shoplifters, and apprehend suspects. The collaborative effort resulted in 23 total arrests, which included arrests for Organized Retail Theft, Shoplifting, outstanding warrants, and narcotics offenses.

In addition to the arrests, deputies successfully recovered more than $5,200 in stolen merchandise, returning all items directly to the affected local businesses.

While the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office regularly conducts proactive enforcement operations across the area to enhance public safety, this initiative emphasizes the agency's commitment to collaborating directly with local retailers to protect businesses, employees, and shoppers. Sheriff Doolittle continues to stress the importance of community partnerships, noting that the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the community are better together.
