THE WOODLANDS, TX -- On October 19, 2026, MCSO Deputies were dispatched to 24915 I 45 (Discount Tire) regarding a suspicious person call. A store employee reported that the suspect appeared to be using a fraudulent Texas Driver’s License to obtain credit for the purchase of tires. Deputies arrived and located the male, when they attempted to speak with him, he fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, deputies detained the suspect, who refused to provide accurate identification. He was later identified as 37-year-old Brent Bascombe.

During the investigation it was revealed that Bascombe was in possession of multiple fake paper identification cards. One of these IDs had been used earlier at a Discount Tire location in Harris County, where Bascombe successfully obtained tires fraudulently. The tires were found inside the U Haul he was operating and were returned to Discount Tire. Deputies also learned that Bascombe had an active warrant out of Florida for Criminal Mischief.

Bascombe was arrested on charges of Tampering with a Government Record, Evading Arrest/Detention, Fraudulent Use/Possession of Identifying Information, and Failure to Identify. He was transported and booked into Montgomery County Jail.
