Tony’s Italian Delicatessen Now Open at City Place
SPRING, TX -- Tony’s Italian Delicatessen, the nationally acclaimed sandwich shop known for generously filled subs, has opened its third Houston-area location at City Place in North Houston. The nearly 2,000-square-foot deli occupies the ground floor of City Place 1 at 1700 City Plaza Drive.
With roots in Montgomery, Tony’s pairs handcrafted sandwiches, premium deli meats and cheeses with a small-town approach to hospitality. The original deli earned national recognition when it ranked No. 1 on Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat in 2017. With existing locations in Tomball and Montgomery, Tony’s will bring its sandwiches to more than 20,000 employees and residents at City Place.
Owner Lori Hutchison’s connection to Tony’s began as a customer, after a friend introduced her to one of its sandwiches. She later purchased the business and expanded its reach, opening the Tomball location in November 2020. The deli’s hot and cold sandwiches are dubbed “carnegies,” a nod to Carnegie Hall, that reflects the menu’s East Coast roots. Tony’s signature “Carnegie” sandwiches, named after Italian American icons, feature Italian rolls stuffed from end to end.
“We are thrilled to add Tony’s Italian Deli to the City Place tenant mix,” said Andrew Giammalva, Vice President of CDC Houston. “Their strong reputation and loyal following are a testament to their high-quality sandwiches, and they bring exactly the kind of energy we want in the community.”
Menu highlights include the Stallone, layered with capicola, soppressata, ham and salami; the award-winning Sophia, with roasted turkey and pesto mayo; and the Pacino, with mortadella, bacon and provolone. Each is finished with Tony’s signature sub oil. Soups, salads and vegetarian options round out the menu, and gluten-free bread is available.
Desserts include limoncello cake, espresso-soaked tiramisu, fresh cannoli and homemade snickerdoodles sold three to a bag.
“The lunchtime crowd at City Place welcomed Tony’s in an amazing way. From the first day, people have lined up on their lunch breaks, and many are already treating us like a neighborhood regular,” Lori Hutchison said. “We’re grateful for that warm welcome."
Tony’s Italian Deli will be open daily from 10:30 a.m. until 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday and closed on Sundays. Online ordering is also available for pickup or delivery on the official location website.
Lindsey McKean of SHOP Companies and Zac Warren of Winthrop Realty Group brokered the lease.
