2024 New Caney Eagles Football Team
A monumental high in 2022 saw the Eagles go undefeated in district and make the postseason, but the reality check of 2023 brought a New Caney squad under a first-year coach down to Earth.
The team fell to a 5-5 overall record that opened with signs of a potential repeat. An undefeated run before play in District 13-6A frightened some that the Eagles may have recaptured their momentum, but a three-game losing streak to Willis, The Woodlands, and Oak Ridge put the team behind the pack for the rest of the year.
Wins over Conroe, Cleveland, and Caney Creek kept the team afloat during the second half of the year, but an untimely loss to College Park sealed the team's fate in missing the playoffs.
It's still up in the air if the Eagles can recapture the magic that fueled the team in 2022, but an August 29th season opener against Galena Park will be a good litmus test for how the team's production will look for 2024. Their first game in district will be against Conroe, who will be looking to avenge last season's 20-58 loss at the hands of New Caney.
