About Us

Interventional cardiologist Dr. Jill Grounds is board certified in five areas: internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, interventional cardiology, nuclear cardiology and echocardiography.

After finishing her undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Missouri, Dr. Grounds earned her medical degree at St. Louis University School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency at Boston Medical Center, Boston University, followed by two fellowships at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, the first in cardiovascular disease and a sub-specialty fellowship in interventional cardiology.

Dr. Grounds diagnoses cardiac-related conditions, including coronary artery disease, arrhythmia, heart valve disease and heart failure, and performs cardiac catheterization procedures, including coronary angiograms and percutaneous interventions such as stents. As one of very few female interventional cardiologists, Dr. Grounds is especially interested in heart disease in women, including pre- and post-partum conditions, and how heart disease affects women as they age.

Her career is rooted in her love of science and people; being a physician allows Dr. Grounds to merge the two. She approaches patient care with an individual mindset, recognizing that multiple solutions—not just a right or wrong answer—exist for treating a specific condition. With that in mind, she explains options to patients and lets them help choose what might be best for them. She wants her patients to feel that she helped them in some way, that they know she cares about them and that they can trust her.
