Job Description

Position Overview
The Assistant Head of School (AHOS) reports directly to the Head of School and plays a key role in the daily operations and long-term success of Trinity Episcopal Day School. This position supports the school’s strategic vision, curriculum assessment, faculty development, and ongoing program improvement, while remaining grounded in best practices in early childhood education.
The ideal candidate brings a strong work ethic, a positive and collaborative spirit, and a deep commitment to the mission and core values of Trinity Episcopal Day School. While membership in the Episcopal Church is not required, an appreciation for Episcopal traditions and values is beneficial.
The typical work schedule is Monday–Thursday from 8:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m., with occasional evening or weekend events. While the school year runs from September through May, the AHOS is expected to work during June and August. Summer hours during these months are slightly more flexible.

Essential Functions

Administrative Leadership

Lead new hire onboarding and training processes

Support the Head of School in addressing staff concerns, conflicts, and disciplinary matters as needed

Understand, implement, and oversee health and safety procedures, including required safety drills

Assume responsibility for daily operations in the absence of the Head of School

Understand and uphold the foundational values and practices of an Episcopal school
Maintain familiarity with Texas Child Care Minimum Standards and accreditation requirements through the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools

Foster a positive, collaborative, and mission-aligned school culture

Participate in strategic planning initiatives focused on program growth and continuous improvement

Assist with preparation of reports and documentation for licensing, accreditation, and school board meetings

Instructional Leadership & Faculty Support

Support faculty through classroom visits, coaching, and classroom management guidance

Assist with teacher evaluations and professional growth through feedback, mentoring, and professional development opportunities

Coordinate after-school enrichment programs, including selection of offerings, staffing, and scheduling

Provide classroom coverage or support when regularly scheduled personnel are unavailable

Partner with faculty to monitor student learning and well-being and co-lead student support meetings
Family Relations
Maintain an active and visible presence on campus, engaging with families and students

Collaborate with the Head of School on the admissions process, including meeting with prospective families and communicating program philosophy and curriculum

Work closely with faculty and administrative staff to ensure clear, consistent, and aligned communication with families

Additional Responsibilities

Complete a minimum of 24 clock hours of professional development training annually, in accordance with licensing requirements

Skills Required

Bachelor’s degree in Education or Early Childhood Education, with a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in education

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software efficiently


Excellent written and verbal communication skills


Collaborative leadership style with strong problem-solving and organizational skills


Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism in a dynamic environment

Compensation:

Negotiable, dependent on experience
