Job Description

Part-Time Position approximately 20 hours per week:
The person accepting this position will support the Director of Music Ministries in multiple duties relating to the coordination, preparation and execution of weekly worship and worship elements as well as additional special services throughout the church year. There will also be minor administrative duties related to this work and the Music Ministry in general. As well, the candidate will direct a Children’s Choir (approximate ages 4-8) and coordinate with the Ministry Director and other Children’s Choir Director as needed for planning and preparation. Further, there will be directing duties related to Children’s Handbells (ages 7-12). This is primarily a teaching ensemble with minimal performance. However, with growth, there could be more performance opportunities or more than one bell ensemble.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Worship Assistant
• Create slides for Sunday morning music and liturgy
• Assist Tech Team by confirming correct service liturgy before each service.
• Plan and prepare necessary items/elements for special events such as Baptisms, Advent Wreath, All Saints’ Day, and special worship services to include - Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday Sunrise Service
• Monitor oil levels in altar candles and candlelighters each week. Fill and reorder as needed.
• Purchase supplies needed for Communion – cups, juice, bread, plastic bags
• Prepare weekly set-up for The Table Communion stations.
• Plan, Recruit, Train and Schedule Communion Servers The Table and Traditional service
• Schedule weekly service reminders.
• Prepare Homebound Communion kits on the first Sunday of the month.
• Launder all Communion cloths and chalice veils (each week) used in Communion.
• Plan and Prepare Chancel logistics as needed.

Acolyte and Lay Reader Coordinator
• Schedule Acolytes to serve each month
• Send out reminders each week to parents
• Train new acolytes as needed
• Monitor acolyte vestments and maintain excellent condition
• Launder acolyte robes as needed
• Schedule Lay Readers each month
• Prepare worship book for Lay Reader readings each week
• Email copies of the readings along with a reminder each week to Lay Reader
• Assist with recruiting other readers, liturgists, worship participants as needed.

Children’s Choir Director
• Currently directing Hallelujah Kids (Pre-K through 1st grade)
• Choose songs for monthly singing
• Prepare for weekly rehearsals
• Conduct rehearsals that include musicality experiences along with teaching the melody for any upcoming songs to be sung during worship.
• Help to connect the biblical meanings of songs sung during worship
• Send reminders to parents about upcoming performances and schedules

Children’s Handbell Director
• Responsible for teaching beginner handbell ringers (all ages) proper techniques in ringing
• Teach ringers musical values and how to read music for playing
• Select songs for rehearsals to prepare for ringing during worship
• Conduct weekly rehearsals

Skills Required

•Display a love for God, a passion for discipling, & a desire to build Christian relationships with Adults, Children & their families.
•Familiarity with Wesleyan theology; embody integrity and high moral and ethical standards in congruence with Christian teaching
•Computer skills including word processing, PowerPoint presentations, social media, marketing and graphic design software
•Musical background and ability to train others
•Personnel management; team builder that can organize

Compensation:

$15,000/year
