I just wanted to put some information out to some of the parents in the area of Panther Creek and Lake Woodlands.  I have two young children and am connected with a lot of moms in the area.  I have been receiving lots of information over the last week and a half about a strange man on the bike paths and in the parks.

I am not sure how many have heard of this and this is all hearsay, however,  I feel everyone should be on the look out.  Here are the events I am talking about:

On 11/05/07 at approximately 5:35 p.m., M.C.S.O. deputies were dispatched to Greeningdon St. in The Woodlands reference to an attempted abduction of a child.

Information received from the complainant was that their 11-year-old daughter was walking the dog on a bike path in the vicinity of Greeningdon St. in Panther Creek village when she was grabbed by the arm. The dog then attacked the individual, biting him on the ankle. At that time the individual released his grip on the child, and she ran home. The description of the subject is as follows: Hispanic male, 30-40 years of age with bushy eyebrows. Subject was wearing blue jeans, a striped shirt and white Nike shoes with green laces. The subject also had a Band-Aid on the left side of his face from the nose to the side of the face..

Friday, I was working in the front yard when a man approached me acting extremely suspicious, staring into my backyard and asking if I was all alone.  He was parked behind the entrance to my neighborhood so as not to be seen, facing the bike path that is used by children to walk to Sally K Ride.  I live in Hickory Oak off of Panther Creek and this happened around 2:30 in the afternoon.

I just got an e-mail this morning about a woman who saw a man hanging around the bike path near Clover Leaf Park while children were walking to school.  She claimed that he looked rather suspicious and she called the Sheriffs Department.  She watched him until the Sheriff arrived, however she does not know what happened with the man after the Sheriff talked to him.  In the e-mail it also talks about a 14 year old girl who was followed by a man on the bike path until she reached a populated park.  Once she got around people he turned around and went back the way he came.

All of these incidents including the man that approached me involve a man medium build, medium complexion, dark short hair possibly between the ages of 30-40.
Please keep an eye out for any suspicious behavior and please remind your children to avoid and not talk to strangers.  I hope we can make some sense of this shortly.

Call 9-1-1 for emergencies.

Call the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at 936.442.7797 for non-emergencies (suspicious activity) as they are happening.
