Gas Prices Continue to Break Records

HOUSTON, Texas –– Texas motorists pain at the pump continued this week as gas prices once again reached record highs.

according to AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch, the average price for a gallon of gas in Texas is $3.84, up 11 cents from the previous week. The national average price jumped 12 cents to a new record of $3.95 a gallon.

“A recent AAA Texas survey revealed that Texans have modified their driving behavior as a result of record high gas prices,” said AAA Texas spokeswoman Rose Rougeau. “Consumers indicated that they are more likely to combine errands, reduce overall driving and check tires for proper inflation to achieve maximum fuel economy.”

The highest average price for a gallon of gas in Texas was in Amarillo at $3.87 a gallon, up 11 cents. The state's cheapest gas was in Corpus Christi at $3.79 a gallon, up six cents.
