THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- On Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. the 3G iPhone went on sale and a large crowd of  people formed a line around the AT&T store on Sawdust Road.

The new version of the highly popular Apple product boasts faster download speeds, new functions, broader email capability, a revised plastic backing, and a lower price. However, that lower price and faster download speed will cost you, about $10 more a month for service than the previous iPhone.

That did not deter Andrew Williamson and his brother Colin from lining up to get the new phone.  The brothers arrived at the AT&T store on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. to grab the first spots in line.

"It's the most convenient phone. You can do almost anything and everything from anywhere in the world."

The new iPhone starts at $199 for the 8 GB version with a 2-year service agreement and is also offered at $299 for the 16 GB version. The 16 GB version also comes with the choice of a black or white plastic backing.
