THE WOODLANDS, Texas –– Lone Star College-Montgomery aims to shine some light on the ever-changing world of the World Wide Web through a presentation by Dr. Bebo White, professor emeritus at Stanford University on May 2.

The event is set for 1 p.m. in the college’s General Academic Center (Building G), Room 102. The presentation is free and the community is invited to attend.

Presented via Skype, White’s lecture, “Preparing for the Web of Things,” will explain how our perception of what composes the physical Web is going to change as devices and objects become "first-class citizens" of the Web and communicate via Web protocols.

White has lectured and spoken internationally to academic and commercial audiences. He is the author of eight books and more than 100 journal and proceedings articles. His current research interests are web science, social media in education, and cloud computing.

He has been actively involved with the planning and execution of five major international conference series: The International World Wide Web Conference, The International Conference on Web Engineering, The IADIS International Conference on WWW/Internet, The International Conference on ICT in Teaching and Learning, and The Web Science Conference.

White’s lecture is sponsored by LSC-Montgomery’s Computer Club, a student group that promotes and increases knowledge in the science, design, development, languages, management and applications of modern computing.
