Woodlands Wildflower Festival set for Oct. 20

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Woodlands Development Company, a wholly- owned subsidiary of The Howard Hughes Corporation, and The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau have stepped up as presenting sponsors for The Woodlands Wildflower Festival, an annual tradition set for Saturday, October 20, 2012 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Rob Fleming Park in The Woodlands’ Village of Creekside Park. The Brickman Group, Ltd., a professional landscape service company with a branch office in The Woodlands, is the participating sponsor.

Residents will be able to collect a variety of free wildflower seeds, distributed by local businesses in The Woodlands, including the Texas Bluebonnet, Black-Eyed Susan, Scarlet Flax and the Drummond Phlox. Displays of native plants, environmental exhibits and booths with nature-related gift items for sale add to the event. Children will enjoy free giant inflatable rides, a free petting zoo, pony rides, face painting and balloon artists. Lovable mascot of The Woodlands, Puffy Pine Cone®, will pose for free photographs with children from 11am until 12 noon along with Bridgeland Bill, the mascot of The Woodlands’ sister community, Bridgeland. Bridgeland is also a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Howard Hughes Corporation.

The official Wildflower Festival poster and t-shirt, selected from the annual Wildflower Festival contest, will be available at the booth of The Woodlands Lions Club. Proceeds from the event benefit Lions Club charities. The Lions Club provides services for the blind and visually impaired and assists youth and senior citizen programs.

Rob Fleming Park is located in The Woodlands’ Village of Creekside Park. Take Woodlands Parkway to Gosling Road and travel south. Turn right on Creekside Forest Drive. The park is located at 6055 Creekside Forest Drive, The Woodlands 77389.
