THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Longhorn Steakhouse has ‘staked’ out a location in The Woodlands and will officially open next Monday, October 29. The 6,300 square foot steak restaurant, with its branded architectural design, was built out by local Spring-based contractor Jerry Kachel Builders. It's located on I-45N on the southbound feeder, next door to the Olive Garden.

The 80 employees required to serve the 300 diners they’ll be able to seat, have been hired, and were undergoing training Monday, October 22. Managing Partner, Billy Banks, was on hand to assist with the orientation and training.

“We have the finest cuts of steak available, which includes a bacon-wrapped filet, prime rib, and a Porterhouse for two,” said Banks. “Our blend of special seasonings and lemon-butter sauce, are unique to our restaurant. We serve ‘knife-worthy’ food,” added Banks.

The casual dining steakhouse will also be opened for lunch with its own unique menu of reasonably priced offerings. The dinner menu has 14 different steaks to choose from. The Longhorn’s signature dishes include the Flo’s Filet and the Outlaw Ribeye. But for starters, there are nine appetizers, three salads, and four soups.

“We’re glad to be in The Woodlands and intend to be a good citizen of this community,” said Banks.

The Orlando, Florida-based Longhorn Steakhouse restaurant chain, owned by Darden Restaurants Inc., will be locking horns with the Houston’s Saltgrass Steak House, just spittin’ distance on the opposite side of I-45. The local chain, whose motto is ‘Texas to the Bone,’ has 18 locations throughout the Greater Houston area. Longhorn Steakhouse plans to open another 10 restaurants throughout Houston over the next two years, adding to its 350 pre-existing locations in multiple states. The long-range projection will be a nation-wide expansion to 800 restaurants over the next several years. The Longhorn Steakhouse definitely intends to take the bull by the horns.
