Guri do Sul celebrates the holiday season in Brazilian custom

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Tis the season for everyone to put their best festive foot forward, and it’s not just the retail merchants. The restaurants are getting into the spirit of the season with their holiday menus. Among them is Guri do Sul, an authentic Brazilian Churrascaria and a carnivore’s culinary delight.

Renowned for their rotisserie repertoire, the menu includes Filet Mignon, Ribeye, Leg of Lamb, Picanha (the prime cut of top sirloin), bacon-wrapped chicken and filet, Parmesan pork, sausage, shrimp, and the addition of cherry-glazed duck during the holiday season. In all, there are twelve different cuts of meat offered. The restaurant’s food presentation and low-lit ambiance harkens back to its origins…the fireside roasts of the gauchos of southern Brazil, a custom that celebrates family and friends dining together.

The samplings are preceded by a gourmet salad bar with over thirty items, which include delectables like smoked salmon, crab claws when in season, asparagus, and a large selection of cheeses. As if there would be any room left after the dining experience for their luscious Tres Leches dessert, but that's what 'to go' boxes are for. Other delicious desserts offered in-house include the chocolate mousse cake, crème brulee, strawberry and papaya cream, cheesecake, and flan.

The Happy Hour has been revamped as well. Monday through Friday from 4:30-7:30 p.m., domestic and imported beers are $3; specialty cocktails like the famous Brazilian Caipirinha, are just $5, and wines are ½ off by the glass. The appetizers are also half price which can be savored while listening to live music Fridays and Saturdays from 7-10 p.m.
