TRAFFIC ALERT: Glow & Go 5K Race takes place this Saturday all along the Waterway
THE WOODLANDS, TX – While our usual traffic alerts of races concern streets that are shut down or routes that are diverted to cars, this weekend’s annual Glow & Go 5K race will only divert pedestrians along The Woodlands Waterway.
Held each December, the Glow and Go 5K is a festive evening race that lights up The Woodlands with holiday cheer. Participants are encouraged to dress in their most colorful, glowing gear and enjoy a fun, chip-timed 5K course filled with music, lights, and seasonal spirit. Open to runners of all abilities and to ages 10 and up, this race is a bright way to celebrate the season.
The race, sponsored by Tachus, starts and finishes just behind the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and runs westbound along the Waterway through Town Green Park to the trolley gates on the south side of Lake Woodlands Drive and Lake Front Circle, then loops back eastward to the west edge of Lake Woodlands, then back to the back side of the Pavilion. A hydration station is situated at the halfway point, and the medical tent is located at the start/finish line. The starting gun fires at 6:00 p.m.
While the Waterway will be open to supporters and walkers alike, pedestrians may expect to be shunted to the side in certain areas. The race itself has been capped at 600 runners with a considerable waitlist. There won’t be an Awards Ceremony, but awards will be distributed onsite. A photo area will be available for participants.
Racers and supporters can visit E’terie Bar & Grill located in the hotel lobby of the Embassy Suites at Hughes Landing after the race for an After Race Party event featuring a complimentary beer, wine or soda plus post-race snacks for those 21 and up.
