Children will create special Menorah out of canned food donations for local Food Bank.

Chabad of The Woodlands is asking for families to donate canned goods for the Montgomery County Food Bank. For the first time in The Woodlands area, children will build a special Menorah out of canned good donations before the cans are given to the Food Bank.

Local dignitaries will be in attendance. Children’s crafts and entertainment will be featured along with traditional Chanukah food including fried foods like hot latkes (potato pancakes) and doughnuts. Musical performances of Chanukah songs will immediately follow. A Chanukah boutique will also be available.

Chanukah begins at sunset on Wednesday, November 27 and runs through the end of sunset on Thursday, December 5.

“This year Chanukah lines up nicely with the general calendar of Thanksgiving,” said Rabbi Mendel Blecher. “That is very special because Chanukah is all about thanking God for what happened to the Jews in Ancient Israel.”

Sponsorship opportunities are available by emailing Rabbi Mendel Blecher at the email below or by calling 281-719-5213.

Chabad of The Woodlands is situated at its new location at 25823 Budde Road. The Center offers Adult Education, Children’s activities including a Mommy & Me program and more.
