THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- For an old-fashioned barber shop that cuts hair the old-fashioned way, one would think they had stepped out of the ‘wayback machine,’ but Lisa’s Barber Shop harkens back just five years. But for those five years the barber shop has been providing customers with that traditional barber shop experience - a friendly atmosphere, great barbering skills, and good conversation. These are the kind of traditions in the barbering business that will keep customers coming back and commenting.

Fifth anniversary but approximately 150 years experience.

The 7-chair shop boasts of having an average of 20 years experience per barber, although a couple of them have over twice that. Accumulative, the shop has approximately 150 years of barbering experience.

Unlike many barbers, Lisa’s family wasn’t in the barbering business. Although the shop is celebrating its fifth year anniversary, Lisa has been cutting hair for twenty-one years.

“I just kind of fell into it,” said Lisa. “I always wanted to cut hair.”

In addition to enjoying cutting hair, Lisa said she likes the people contact. She enjoys talking with the customers.

“I love the barbershop atmosphere,” said Lisa, the owner of the shop. “Men are great. I like working with the men.”

Specializing in traditional haircuts the old-fashioned way, their services include men’s, women’s, and children’s haircuts. Men’s cuts include a hot lather shave on the back of the neck. Full facial shaves are also available, as well as razor haircuts at the customer’s request.

“I like that it’s convenient; a local neighborhood barbershop,”said Brad Webster, a 13-year resident of The Woodlands from the village of Indian Springs West. “I get a good haircut and good customer service. She makes us look great.”

For some, coming to the local barbershop is a family affair. The Crabtree family comes in together for their haircuts. Dad, Michael, and sons, Conor, Alexander, and Nicholas, take turns in the barbers’ chairs.

When asked what haircuts are trending for Conor, who attends Lone Star College, and Alexander, a senior at Magnolia High School, dad, Michael replied, “We tell them.”

Lisa said no customer is too young or too old.

“The youngest customer that I’ve cut hair on, was four months old,” said Lisa. “The oldest was 94.”
