THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Faith Bible Church has been on a mission...not only a mission to "Give Grace, Live Truth and Reflect Jesus," but a mission to grow with The Woodlands, and to be resource for those who are searching for a church to call home.

To accommodate the growth within their own congregation and address the new arrivals to the community, the church has been a work-in-progress since 2010, when a building committee initiated a study to prepare for the future. The result is 13+ ‘acres of grace’ consisting of a new worship center that is two times larger than the original one, with a capacity of 1100 seats. Three large screens and other state-of-the-art technology will fast-forward the church beyond today’s current technology level, for the benefit of the future.

This kind of forward-thinking necessitated growing the rest of the church’s amenities proportionately. The Adult Education area and Kidz Inc. will both be two times larger, the Student Ministry will be four times as large, and the nursery will be tripled with 13 rooms. After 36 years the time had come to expand, not only physically, but virtually.

“We’re also going to be launching a new interactive website, that will also be state-of-the-art,” said Communications Director, BJ McGeever. “This is one of my major priorities.”

The website is an essential part of the church’s expansion.

“There was a time when people drove around looking for a steeple when they moved into a new community,” said Senior Pastor, Scott Pollok. “Now they search on the Internet.”

All the more essential that the church’s virtual steeple is as welcoming as their new worship center.

“Like most of the other churches in the community, the ExxonMobil newcomers have also added to our congregation. We have visitors every week who come to see and visit our church,” said Pollok. “Fortunately our expansion plans started four years ago, before ExxonMobil announced their relocation, so we’re ready to welcome them."

Visitors are always cordially welcomed at Faith Bible Church. Quarterly, there’s a visitors lunch after the second sermon, and three times a year an 8-week course is taught on Sundays, covering the church’s Doctrine and Theology. The next step is to get the new members involved in small groups and church activities - in essence, welcoming them into the fold.

The church expansion will culminate in the spring, with the new worship center holding services the first Sunday in March (March 1); the website will roll out shortly thereafter. Construction on the worship center finished on target at the end of January; the month of February will be spent finishing off the interior.

Phase II and III of the church’s master plan were designed by The Woodlands-based Lancaster & Associates architectural firm, which has been involved in the design of 50 projects for 33 different churches, including the development of 30 master plans, and also both residential and commercial designs. Architect Thomas Lancaster is an elder at Faith Bible Church, so there’s a spiritual connection to the project.

It is the hope of the church that those looking for a spiritual connection will look to Faith Bible Church. Sunday worship services are as follows:

9 a.m., 10:40 a.m., and 5 p.m. (February 1: No 5 p.m. service)

Adult Community Groups, Kids & Special Needs: 9 a.m. and 10:40 a.m.

Student Ministry: 10:40 a.m. Junior High and High School
