THE WOODLANDS, Texas - On Sunday, September 20, MINI of The Woodlands is hosting a special Grand Opening Bootgating Event that will be fun for the whole family, while also raising funds to benefit Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands.

The grand opening will be held from 12pm to 4pm on Sunday at MINI of The Woodlands, located at 16675 Interstate 45 South. The event derived its named from the term used to describe the trunk of a MINI Cooper: a boot. Instead of tailgating, it will be a family-friendly bootgating event.

Attendees can sport their Texans gear and watch their favorite home football team on a 12-foot projector screen as The Houston Texans take on the Carolina Panthers beginning at noon. There will also be plenty of activities for the children, including a giant game of Operation, bean bag toss, a Furry Friends Clinic that will examine stuffed animals, races, snow cones from Kona Ice, face painting, inflatables and moon walks, a clown that will be making balloons, and much more. In honor of National Car Seat Day, which is September 19, there will be a demonstration of a proper car seat installation. Texas Children’s Hospital is even going to bring their Kangaroo Mobile to the event, which is their children’s ambulance. Dairy Queen will also be present passing out Dilly Bars!

For the adults, there will be a silent auction including items from The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, Ace Hardware, and Buffalo Wild Wings. Also be on the lookout for Southern Star Beer handing out samples.

“All the proceeds for the day will be going back to Texas Children’s Hospital,” said Annabelle Carrillo, Community Liaison Coordinator at MINI of The Woodlands. “We have a barbecue cook-off team who will be doing the barbecue and serving the food. They are cooking and sponsoring all of the food. That is the only thing we are charging, $6 a plate, for brisket, sausage (or hot dogs) and salad and beans.”

MINI of The Woodlands officially opened its doors to customers on June 12th as a certified MINI Cooper dealer.

“It is one of the largest MINI dealerships in the country,” said Carrillo. “There is only three in the Houston area. We have a huge inventory of MINIs and it has really taken off here in The Woodlands and in Houston, the sales of MINIs. They are built with BMW components, owned by BMW, and have a very high safety rating. We have a good range of different models, and in the showroom we have one of each.”

From models such as the Clubman and Convertible to the Countryman and Paceman, MINI of The Woodlands has a wide range of MINI Cooper models, each with its own unique and distinct features.

MINI of The Woodlands’ Grand Opening Bootgating Event is bound to be a fun and exciting event for everyone who attends, while also benefiting Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands.
