THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The road to the position of Precinct 3 County Commissioner just took an interesting turn. Woodlands resident, Jay Mac Sanders has officially announced that he will be running for the position which will be on the March 1 ballot.

Sanders met with Dr. Wally Wilkerson, the Montgomery County GOP chairman since 1964, on Wednesday, December 9, to solidify his plans to run.

“Freedom is not free,” stated Sanders, who said that will be his campaign slogan. "The future I leave for my family, and the families of this precinct, is my highest priority."

Sanders has held the position as a Legislative Aide to the United States Senate, an elected board member for the Panther Creek Village Association, and was nominated by his peers for Lone Star Small Business of the Year for both 2013 and 2014.

Sanders vows to represent the taxpayers, not special interest groups, and initiate transparency on the Commissioners’ Board.

“I intend to take full advantage of matching funds for transportation projects, and eliminate duplicate studies that don’t benefit the people of Precinct 3, and taxpayer funded legal settlements,” said Sanders, "but most importantly, serve the people with integrity."

Sanders campaign will be based on combining measured responsible growth with conservative principles which Sanders stated means...The People Win.

A 'meet the candidate' event will take place Tuesday, December 15, at Crescent Moon Wine Bar and Restaurant located at 440 Rayford Road, from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Sanders invites the community to come to the event and bring their questions and concerns, meet his lovely wife, Kristin Lee, and their children: Anna Grace - 5 years old, McAdoo - 3 years old, and Emma Jane - 13 months.
