MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas - School will be out soon and everyone is scrambling to find activities to keep the kids occupied during the summer. Unfortunately, play forts, above-ground swimming pools, and trampolines, all come packaged with a note that says ”Some Assembly Required.”

Many people don’t have the patience, the time, or the tools, to assemble large items. We do.

These projects almost always take more time to put together than anticipated, so why not delegate the assembly to an organization that is adept at moving as if a fire had been lit under them? Fired Up Assemblers was formed to fill a unique niche in customer service...the assembling and disassembling of large equipment projects.

The idea was conceived and the company was formed in 2000 by Jason Barron, to provide extra jobs for off-duty firefighters. A firefighter himself, Barron said many firefighters have to work extra jobs to keep up with the cost of living.

“Residents trust firefighters. They trust them with their lives when they call 911,” said Barron. “All firefighters have had background checks and drug screening, so there’s a high level of trust doing business with us.” Firefighters are use to carrying heavy equipment; adept at using tools, and it’s been their calling to help others. There probably isn’t another industry that operates with a greater sense of urgency than firefighters.

Fired Up Assemblers will assemble a project, or disassemble, relocate, and reassemble an item. They’ll even haul off the disassembled item. The following is a list of projects Fired Up Assemblers has extensive experience assembling and disassembling…

Above-ground pools

Basketball goals

Exercise equipment

Gazebos

Grilling equipment

Indoor/outdoor furniture

Play forts

Pool and Ping Pong Tables

Sheds

Trampolines (Trampolines aren’t just for kids anymore. See video)

“Many people don’t have the patience, the time, or the tools, to assemble these large items,” said Barron. “We do.”

In addition to outdoor play equipment and grills, the new craze of ‘Man Caves’ and “She Sheds’ has sparked an uptick in their business; even treehouse plans can be erected faster with a group that works together as a team in their other profession.

Aside from the outdoor activity projects, Fired Up Assemblers will also assemble office furniture, i.e. ergonomic chairs, conference tables, sectional desks, to get your business functionally operating.

“What we aren’t, is a handyman service,” said Barron. “We specialize in quick-turn, large projects, but we’ll haul off an item that we’ve been called to disassemble. We aren’t a moving company either. There are plenty of moving companies that will move the entire contents of a house. We’re not trying to encroach on other specialized service companies. We’re filling a need that these other businesses don’t necessarily want.

Comprised of firefighters from many different firefighting jurisdictions, Fired Up Assemblers will travel as far as 100 miles from downtown Houston. Some of the stores who use their services include Academy, Home Depot, Lowes, and IKEA. They come highly recommended by the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and have even received the Super Service Award from Angie’s List. One of the benefits of hiring a team of firefighters is that they’re quick to notice something on the premises that may be a fire hazard, or detect a chirping smoke alarm, and will remedy the situation. The best benefit though, is the free time and frustration you’ll be saving your neighbors and yourself.
