THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Where do I dispose of old tires, oil and rechargeable batteries? Why is it important to recycle used motor oil? Milstead Automotive answered those questions and gave out over 30 plants during their recent self-proclaimed Earth Week.

Extending this year’s April 22nd Earth Day into Earth Week renewed the Milstead Automotive commitment to do their part to help clean up the Earth.

After taking in donations of old tires, oil, and rechargeable batteries during that week, the Milstead Automotive team has decided that the last Saturday/full week of each month through year-end would be a recurring event for customers and friends in the community who are also concerned with the environment.

“We had a huge outpouring of support and received a lot of tires, used motor oil and batteries that were donated,” noted Amy Milstead, president of Milstead Automotive Group. “In addition, we spruced up the outside of our shops with flowers and were excited to thank everyone for their participation and donations by giving them a living plant to keep the positive environmental impact going.”

Milstead Automotive Service Advisor Gregg Bruce noted that “all automotive shops are required by law to contain the oil drained from cars, but consumers who change their own oil may not know what to do with the used oil. You do not want to put the used oil down the drain because it can contaminate our ground water table, currently a huge environmental concern, especially in Montgomery County. So bring it to Milstead Automotive and we will take care of it. Let’s continue to celebrate our Earth.”
