Local UPS Store shuts doors, opens opportunities

THE WOODLANDS, TX – Visitors and shoppers at the Grogan’s Mill Village Center were surprised last week to find that branch of The UPS Store shuttered. Social media soon lit up with customers wondering if the location was shut down for good, and what that would mean for current mailbox-holders.

Woodlands Online reached out to and contacted store owner Nathan, who informed us that he was restructuring the location as an independent location.

“We should have our doors opened again in a week,” he told Woodlands Online. “In the meantime, current mailbox renters can enter the location by using their six-digit codes already given to them for after-hours entry and access their mailboxes. There should be no delays in mail deliveries.” This will come as particularly good news for those who have recently renewed or rented their mailboxes.

While Nathan stated that all the existing mail and office services would be available, there may be a lag in being able to process UPS-specific orders and services, such as Amazon returns.

“Both [former employee turned partner] Luke and I are working hard and fast in our lease negotiations as a new independent entity and keeping things operational, and I don’t anticipate a long wait in opening our doors again and upgrading our location.”

For those customers needing UPS-specific services and products, Woodlands Online also reached out to Drake Smith, who is general manager to two Woodlands-area locations; 6700 Woodlands Parkway near Kuykendahl at the Sterling Ridge Village Center, and 4747 Research Forest near Gosling in the Cochran’s Crossing Village Center.

“We have mailboxes available and all services ready for anyone coming to our locations,” he told Woodlands Online.
