The Woodlands Kiwanis 35th Annual Kids Fishing Tournament
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Kiwanis Club will host their 35th Annual Kids’ Fishing Tournament on Saturday, August 31, at Creekwood Park in Panther Creek.
Free event will take place August 31
This free event is open to kids from toddlers to age 16, as well as their parents or guardians. Registration opens at 7 a.m. with fishing from 8 a.m. until approximately noon.
“This event is a special treat just seeing kids catch fish,” said Dave Estes, President of The Woodlands Kiwanis Club. “Many of them have never gone fishing before.”
In preparation for the event, Montgomery County Parks & Recreation stocks the pond with 500 pounds of catfish. Young anglers need to bring their own rods, reels and tackle, but free bait is provided. Volunteers, including The Woodlands Bass Club and members of several high school Key Clubs, will be on site to lend a hand.
Along with fishing, kids can enjoy free refreshments, line dancing, and other festivities. The event is designed to bring families together for a fun morning before the start of a new school year.
