Team Abilities Launches Special Needs “Great Pumpkin Adventure” Trunk-Or-Treat Event
CONROE, TX -- TEAM Abilities will host its first-ever Great Pumpkin Adventure: An All-Abilities Superhero Trunk-or-Treat, from 10 a.m. to noon at TEAM Abilities, 8448 Hwy 242, Conroe, TX 77385.
The free event is being created especially for the special-needs community and will transform the TEAM Abilities grounds into a colorful superhero adventure filled with decorated trunks, treats, games, music, a costume parade and a hunt for special Golden Pumpkins.
“We wanted to create a Halloween celebration where everyone could come exactly as they are and be part of the fun,” said Rachel Jelks, Founder and Executive Director of TEAM Abilities. “Our message is simple: everybody has a superpower, and everybody deserves a place where they feel like the hero.”
Community members, organizations and businesses are invited to participate by creating superhero-inspired trunks featuring themes ranging from comic-book heroes and princess power to first responders, everyday heroes, super pets and original superheroes.
One of the event’s signature attractions will be the Golden Pumpkin Hunt, with Golden Pumpkins hidden throughout the adventure for attendees to discover and redeem for prizes.
“The Golden Pumpkins give our guests something unexpected to discover,” Jelks said. “We don't want people to simply walk through and collect candy. We want them to have an adventure.”
The daytime celebration will also offer sensory-friendly fun and an inclusive environment designed to welcome individuals with varying abilities and comfort levels.
“Sometimes families in the special-needs community have to wonder whether an event will work for their loved one,” Jelks said. “We want them to know that this one was created with them in mind. Come as you are. We’ll be happy to see you.”
Admission is FREE for the special-needs community.
