THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The first meeting in 2020 was the talk of the town. From the battle on the court to the battle between the loud opposing fans, this rivalry game lived up to expectations. College Park came away with a 48-46 road win over their rival The Woodlands back in January. This Tuesday, the roles will be reversed and The Woodlands will be the road team trying to stun the home crowd. And if the last meeting wasn’t already intense enough, the season finale will have serious playoff implications to raise the stakes even higher.

College Park (11-4) currently sits in second place in District 15-6A. A win on Tuesday will clinch the two seed for the Cavaliers going into the UIL state playoffs. However, if CP loses and falls to 11-5, they become tied with third place Klein Forest. Since the teams split the regular-season meetings, a tiebreaker would be needed to decide the seeding going into the bi-district round.

The Woodlands will be the team dealing with the most pressure on Tuesday night. While College Park is in the playoffs regardless of the result, a loss for the Highlanders could end their season. The Woodlands sits in a tie for the fourth and final playoff spot with Conroe going into the final game of the regular season for both teams.

The Woodlands has the advantage as the Highlanders defeated the Tigers in both meetings, so a win for the Highlanders, regardless of Conroe’s result, gets them in. If The Woodlands loses and Conroe loses, the Highlanders are in, but a Conroe win and a TW loss will see the Tigers taking the fourth spot. Conroe will be on the road Tuesday in a tough matchup against Klein Oak. The Tigers defeated Klein Oak 56-55 last month.

Tuesday night’s game is expected to sell out, so if you’re not in attendance, you can still watch round two of this thrilling rivalry live, right here on Woodlands Online. Tuesday’s live broadcast will be sponsored by Hal Watson Air Conditioning and Memorial Hermann The Woodlands. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
