May 23, 2020 Lake Conroe Drowning

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- Yesterday at approximately 4:40pm the Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable's office responded to a drowning near East Beach on Lake Conroe. During the subsequent investigation Deputies learned the following:

A male subject jumped off of a boat in an attempt to swim to the beach. While swimming he became distressed , nearby boaters attempted to help the victim but were unsuccessful in reaching him before he went under the water.

Montgomery County Precinct 1 Marine Division along with Texas Parks and Wildlife: North Montgomery County Fire Department - ESD 1, Montgomery County Pct. 1 Dive Team, Conroe Fire Department and Montgomery County Hospital District, all assisted in the search and recovery of the male.

The male was located by side scan sonar and recovered by divers in thirteen (13) feet of water.

The Male was identified as: Robert O Walker B/M 46 years of age from Houston, Texas

Constable Cash wants everyone to enjoy Lake Conroe responsibly. Boaters are asked to familiarize themselves with the SJ. Rules and Safe Operation of their vessel before going the water. Everyone who uses the lake is encouraged to always wear a PFD when entering the water.
