MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- The National Hurricane Center has upgraded the depression in the Gulf to Tropical Storm Cristobal, with maximum sustained wind speeds of 40 mph. The storm will likely begin to lift northward toward the center of the Gulf of Mexico on Friday and Saturday. Significant uncertainty remains regarding its track and intensity later this week. Our next update will be at close of business today.

It is too early to have confidence in a specific track or intensity, but residents along the Gulf Coast should prepare for the possibility of impacts late in the weekend into early next week. Please read our guidance below on how to prepare for hurricane season during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
