Governor Abbott Statement On 25th Anniversary Of 9/11

AUSTIN, TX -- Governor Greg Abbott today issued the following statement on the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks:

“It’s been twenty-five years since that Tuesday morning when terrorists struck the United States. Over the course of a single morning, thousands of innocent Americans were murdered in New York City, Washington D.C., and a field in Pennsylvania. But we also saw incredible acts of heroism—Americans helping Americans. First responders ran toward the fire, and the brave passengers of Flight 93 made the ultimate sacrifice that saved the lives of others. Texas will never forget those we lost that day, the families who still feel their absence, and the men and women of our armed forces who answered the call to keep America safe. Today, we are reminded that freedom is never free.”

Yesterday, the Governor directed that the United States and Texas flags fly at half-staff across the state today in honor of the nearly 3,000 innocent people murdered the morning of 9/11 and of every first responder who ran toward the danger.
