THE WOODLANDS, TX – Since practically the genesis of The Woodlands Township, one business has been growing and changing alongside the community it has served for generations. Woodlands Eye Associates has been caring for the eyes and eyesight of thousands of patients over the decades.

Established in 1976 by Dr. George Kaufman, making Woodlands Eye Associates one of the earliest eye-care practices in The Woodlands, the business that began as a single office has grown into a modern practice with two locations and a team of doctors providing comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages.

Today, the focus is firmly on the physicians who are carrying that tradition forward. Four experts have guided the practice through changing technologies and eyecare needs – Dr. Ginger Brown, Dr. Holly Navid, Dr. Chad Toups, and Dr. Jenna Cedillo.

This team of doctors is built around comprehensive eye care, bringing different experiences and areas of expertise to the practice, but they share a common approach: treating eye care as an important part of a patient’s overall health.

The Team
Dr. Ginger Brown
– Dr. Brown has been part of Woodlands Eye Associates since 2005 and practices at both the Medical Plaza and Panther Creek locations. A therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist, Dr. Brown has extensive experience in primary eye care as well as the management of glaucoma, cataracts, retinal conditions, and other ocular diseases. Her experience also includes caring for patients with macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.

Dr. Holly Navid – Dr. Navid brings more than 20 years of optometric experience to the practice. A therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist, she provides comprehensive care for children, adults, and seniors. Her clinical interests include glaucoma, dry eye, ocular disease, and complex contact lens fittings, as well as co-management of cataract and LASIK procedures. Her emphasis on listening to patients and taking the time to answer their questions has become an important part of her approach to care.

Dr. Chad Toups – Dr. Toups is an experienced optometric glaucoma specialist whose training includes extensive work in retinal disease, including macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. He also has experience with postoperative care following cataract and retinal procedures. Today, his areas of particular focus include glaucoma and infectious eye diseases. He sees patients at both Woodlands Eye Associates locations and has become an integral part of the practice’s commitment to continuing education and comprehensive care.

Dr. Jenna Cedillo – Dr. Cedillo joined Woodlands Eye Associates in 2022, bringing experience in both routine and medical optometry. A therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist, Dr. Cedillo provides care for patients of all ages, with expertise ranging from comprehensive eye exams and contact lenses to dry eye, allergies, glaucoma, and diabetic eye care. She also provides pre- and postoperative care for LASIK and cataract procedures.

Then and Now
Eye care has progressed by leaps and bounds since 1976 when Woodlands Eye Associates first opened its doors. Evolving with technology and modern eye needs, the practice addresses the needs of its patients with sophisticated diagnostic technology and the early detection and management of conditions that can affect a patient’s long-term vision and overall health.

Beyond comprehensive eye examinations, Woodlands Eye Associates offers care for glaucoma and other eye diseases, dry eye, diabetic eye conditions, macular degeneration and myopia. The practice also provides contact lens services, eyewear and co-management for procedures including cataract and LASIK surgery.

Being such a longstanding, august presence in the Township, the practice has enjoyed treating multiple generations of Woodlanders, sometimes within the same family, combining the experience of the doctors in their particular sub-fields and their desire to keep up with the latest procedures, protocols, and technologies. But perhaps the most meaningful measure of a medical practice is not simply how long it has been in business, but how many relationships it has built along the way.

For Woodlands Eye Associates, nearly 50 years in the community represents generations of patients who have trusted the practice with their vision. Children who once came in for their first eye exam have grown into adults and, in many cases, returned with children of their own.
That continuity remains an important part of the practice today.

“Woodlands Eye Associates has cared for generations of patients and built relationships that extend far beyond the exam room,” Dr. Brown told Woodlands Online. “I’ve been fortunate to be part of that story for 21 years, and I’m incredibly proud of where we’ve been and excited about where we’re going over the next 50 years.”

While the practice has evolved considerably since its founding in 1976, its commitment to personalized care remains at the center of what Woodlands Eye Associates does. With Dr. Brown and her compatriots leading the practice today, the next chapter is being written by a team focused on providing knowledgeable, compassionate and comprehensive eye care to the community.

The staff invites new patients to check the practice out, and reminds their current crop of patients to keep on schedule with their appointments, to facilitate a Township full of people with a clear vision toward the future. Make an appointment at either of their locations by calling (281) 367-5335 for the 4775 W Panther Creek location or (281) 367-2020 for the location at 1001 Medical Plaza Dr., suite 100.
