Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Arrest Male for Murder

NEW CANEY, TX -- On December 18, 2020, at about 9:00 pm, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 23000 block of Forest Green Lane in New Caney, Texas in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, Deputies found a Hispanic male with multiple gunshot wounds in the yard of the residence and began life-saving measures. Deputies also detained a 34-year-old Hispanic male from the residence who was believed to have shot the victim. Medical personnel arrived on the scene and continued life-saving measures. Despite all efforts made, the victim succumbed to his wounds.

During the investigation, Detectives learned that the victim was in a relationship with the ex-wife of the suspect. The ex-wife and the victim came to the suspect’s house to pick up her three children when an altercation ensued between the suspect and the victim. Based on the evidence collected and interviews conducted, Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office arrested the suspect, Randy Estrada, for Murder and transported him to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Jail.

The victim was identified as 25-year-old Luis Antonio Ortiz. This is still an active investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this tragic incident.
