THE WOODLANDS, TX – This Memorial Day weekend, Woodforest National Bank® ('Woodforest') is celebrating its 25th year of banking inside Walmart®, the nation’s largest retailer. Celebrations will happen in all of its 722 branches located inside Walmart.

“Growing our business inside Walmart stores has been a great experience for Woodforest because it allows us to have the best lobby in banking,” said Julie V. Mayrant, the Bank’s President of Retail Banking. “We want to thank Walmart for working with us to provide great service for our retail and business customers for the past 25 years. We value teaming up with their store managers and associates who share our passion for helping our customers where they work and live. We also want to let our customers know how much we value them and appreciate their business every day,” she said.

Woodforest opened its first in-store branch in its home market of Conroe in Montgomery County Texas, and due to the success of that branch, the Bank continued to strengthen and grow its presence inside Walmart Stores across the country. Woodforest’s Walmart in-store branches are currently located in Texas, Alabama, Illinois, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia as part of the Bank’s larger 760-plus branch fleet across its 17-state footprint in the United States.

Woodforest’s Revitalization in Downtown Conroe Continues

Construction is in its fifth month on the redesigned Woodforest mixed-use business center and bank branch in historic downtown Conroe at 400 West Davis. The initial steel frames are in place on the three-story building, and concrete has been poured on the first and second levels.

Once complete in first quarter of 2022, Woodforest will anchor the first floor, occupying 3,800 square feet of the 32,800 square-foot building. In addition to the branch space, the building will be a marquis tenant location with 9,000 square feet dedicated to retail space and 20,000 square feet for Class A office space. The building previously onsite was constructed in 1962. Woodforest’s first branch in Conroe, a flagship in the community, opened in 1996.

“This redesigned Woodforest Bank branch and mixed-use business center will contribute to the emerging commerce already underway in downtown Conroe,” said Jay Dreibelbis, President and CEO, of Woodforest. “This historic site marks one of our first branches in Montgomery County and it’s exciting to be a part of this thriving community. We are pleased construction is on schedule, and we plan to re-introduce Woodforest to our neighbors in Q1 2022,” he said.
