AUSTIN, TX -- Tuesday, State Representative Steve Toth (R-The Woodlands) filed HB 270 in response to Democrat lawmakers abandoning the state. HB 270 would withhold taxpayer dollars for a year from legislators who prevent a quorum by skipping work at the Capitol.

'If you won’t work,' said Rep. Toth, 'you don’t deserve to get paid. It's that simple. When the Democrats broke quorum, they stopped everything. Democrats quit instead protecting their constituents from felons who get out of jail on personal bonds so they can prey on the most vulnerable in society. Not only did they quit on bail reform, they quit on retired teachers. We were working on giving retired teachers a 13th check. Democrats quit on ensuring border security and keeping Texans safe from cartels. They quit on sending billions of dollars back to taxpayers as property tax relief. Democrats also quit on election integrity, and quitters, like cheaters, never prosper.'

'Every elected official takes an oath,' continued Toth, 'I upheld mine and came to work this morning. The Democrats broke their oath, abandoned their constituents, and quit their taxpayer-funded work to vacation in DC and Disney World.'

Steve Toth is a small business owner representing South Montgomery County in the Texas House of Representatives. Representative Toth is a proven fiscal conservative serving on the powerful Appropriations Committee. He has been a contributor on CNN, Fox News, Fox Business News, OAN, and KTRH.
